March and April = Music Mayhem!

Nestled snugly between SXSW and Coachella is Wall Of Sound, a two-day festival at the Ridglea Theatre in Fort Worth. Its goal (stolen from their Myspace profile) is to "shed new light and exposure for emerging local and regional unsigned bands by giving them the opportunity to be showcased along with higher profile national artists on the same stage," and in the process bringing a "respected independent music and arts culture to the city of Fort Worth by producing a quality and innovative pop music festival." (Which, just among friends, is the first time we've seen respected and Fort Worth appear in the same sentence. Zing! )

Among the artists confirmed to play are LOW (MN), The New Year (Dallas), Okkervil River (Austin), Starlight Mints (OK), Starflyer 59 (CA), The Lassie Foundation (CA), The Octopus Project (Austin), The Czars (CO), Single Frame (Austin) and The Dark Romantics (FL).

They've managed to assemble an impressive selection of artists, with a significant nod to some of Austin's finest (and Austinist's favorites): Zookeeper, Experimental Aircraft, The Black Angels, AM Syndicate, and Loxsly being just a few that we saw while skimming down the list.

Tickets go on sale at 4pm today; we're guessing that they'll show up on this page.

  • Wow, thanks for the heads up on this! I wasn't even aware that this festival was that awesome. Now I have to go, if just to see single frame and the black angels playing the same show/festival/whatever.
