Curious? This Week's New Movie Releases!

To do this weekend: save the bank (and, consequently, family) from the bad guys, take pet monkey to the vet, mourn the state of Steve Martin’s career, have mild lesbian encounter, be appalled by people’s ignorance.

Firewall
A man is forced to break into the very bank his security program protects, or else suffer the loss of his much-younger wife and children at the hands of super (and super adorable!) villain Paul Bettany. In a stunning career turn, Harrison Ford plays pretty much the same character he’s always played.

Curious George
Aw, that curious little guy gets us every time! If we were the man in the yellow hat, we’d totally pick up girls by asking them to pet our monkey. (You knew that joke was coming.)

The Pink Panther
The Pink Panther is nothing – NOTHING! – without Peter Sellers. It’s sad when Hollywood can’t leave well enough alone. It’s also sad that Hollywood continues to employ Beyonce Knowles.

Imagine Me & You
A presumably heterosexual woman falls for another woman just as she’s about to marry a cute British guy. Oh, the sexual confusion! As Joey Tribbiani once said, we’ve got two words for you: Threesome.

Protocols of Zion
Marc Levin’s documentary explores modern views on a book that delineates Jewish people’s master plan to take over the world. One tiny thing: the book is fake. But people still believe it. Like Dianetics, only much worse.

Austinist recommends these first runs: Brokeback Mountain, Capote, Chronicles of Narnia, Fun with Dick and Jane, Good Night and Good Luck, King Kong, The Matador, Match Point, Munich, The Squid and the Whale, Syriana, Walk the Line

I love Steve Martin -- so it kills me that he has anything to do with this Pink Panther debacle. Peter Sellers was a genius. It's just wrong, wrong I tell you (!), to tinker with the work of a genius.

Imagine Adam Sandler playing the lead character in a remake of "All of Me." The age difference is the same as Sellers - Martin. Wouldn't work, would it??

Ach, why won't people leave well enough alone?

arr, thar's gold to be plundered!

"In a stunning career turn, Harrison Ford plays pretty much the same character he’s always played."

Classic.
