Vote Your Heart Out

If you're seeing plenty of those Ben Bentzin and Donna Howard signs littering your neighbors' lawns, quit stealing them. The election will be over soon enough.

Yesterday began the early voting period for the run-off election for State Representative of District 48. Back in January, Donna Howard came close to winning the majority by a .5% margin. Ben Bentzin came in a close second with 38% of the votes. Early voting lasts until Friday, February 10th. The official election date is Tuesday, February 14th, Valentine's Day.

Wouldn't it be sweet to include an "I Voted" sticker on that Valentine's card or box of chocolates? You would totally impress your sweetheart by talking intelligently about the election, or by actually knowing what district you're in. (We're nice enough to include a map, too.)

There are plenty of early voting locations in the district. Or, if you're a proctrastinaor like we are, make sure you get to the polls on Tuesday.

YOU CAN BET YOUR SWEET TAX DOLLAR THAT JUBCHA IS VOTING. I JUST HELPED TO DEFEAT THE LAGO VISTA SCHOOL DISTRICT FROM PUSHING MY TAXES THROUGH THE ROOF. WE ARE OVERTAXED AND WE STOOD UP AND WE WERE HEARD.

THE POWER IS IN THE PEOPLE. WE HAVE A VOICE. IF YOU DONT FIGHT FOR ANYTHING THEN YOULL STAND FOR NOTHING.

JUST BECAUSE YOU DIDNT MAKE IT ON AMERICAN IDOL, OR ON ROLLERGIRLS, OR ON COPS--YOU CAN STILL BE A HERO.

VOTE TODAY.

Check it -- there is actually something meaningful in this election: Donna Howard opposes teaching intelligent design, on the basis of keeping kids competitive when it comes to math and science on the global front. God bless Donna! She gets my vote.

"close second"? If an 11% margin means a "close second", then John Kerry's support was indistinguishable from Bush in 2004. 11% is generally regarded as a butt-whipping.

Particularly when the two Dem candidates combined for 60% of the vote.

Phil- 'twas meant to be sarcasm.
