Mayor's Book Club Selection
It's that time again! Yesterday, Mayor Wynn announced the 2006 selection for the Mayor's Book Club: a work by Luis Alberto Urrea entitled The Devil's Highway. Austinites are encouraged to pick up a copy of the book and read it during the months of February and March. In April, the library will be hosting discussions, presentations and other events that will tie into the book and its themes. On April 26, the author will come to town. And on another public library-related note, the last time we visited, the librarian who checked us out notified us that the new online catalog will be in use as of Feb. 22. We don't imagine the move will be very smooth, and the library is even warning that locations will experience delays on the 22nd and 23rd. In the end it'll be worth it, though, to have what will be an improved resource.
