Overseen/heard around Town

We were walking down West 6th today on our way to lunch when we heard the funky sounds of Kool & The Gang's "Jungle Boogie" emanating from...somewhere...but where? And then we saw it. A gentleman waiting for the Silver 'Dillo on on 6th was blasting the 70's hit from his old-school Boom Box. As we approached, we noticed another gentleman standing behind the aforementioned DJ doing nice little soft-shoe groove. As the bus neared, the dancer approached the man with the sounds and said, "Ah, man, nice, real nice. You keepin' it real."

You're damn right he was, sir.

We had not seen a jam box on the downtown streets in ages. So we wonder, with oversized belts, jellies, leg-warmers, hair styles, music and all other things 80's (including, apparently, Boom Boxes) making a comeback, what 80's fashion/style trend would you like to see make a resurgence, and which ones do you want to just go the hell away forever?

day glo colors...

I think they were also called ultra glo (?)

either way, I really never want to see them again.

and, even though crystal Pepsi was an early 90's trend (flop), I'd love to see its resurrection.

also, Ghostbusters... we need another one dearly.

feathered bangs. that was a decent hairstyle.
simple video games. Like Pac-Man. innundated with graphics now.
unicorns- unicorns used to be huge! They are such lovely creatures.
Corey Haim- I wish he never grew up.

those "jelly's" gave me some messed up blisters! I'll never miss that crap.

I would like to see the dissapointing 21st Century trend of extraneous apostrophes (see article) replaced by the fabulous 80s trend, hypercolor.

don't see how contr'acted wo'r'ds using apostro'phe's cou'ld be consid'ered extraneous but will work on the hypercolor'

that's funny - i've only been in austin for 4 months, and have encountered gentlemen bearing boomboxes downtown at least 3 times (maybe it was the same guy). too bad they/he wasn't playing anything as good as jungle boogie.

Jellies gave me mad blisters too.
How about another Gremlins movie?
