Kristi, You Have Some 'Splaining to Do

The Republicans aren't the only lying liars in town. And while that is not news to us, we were still a little shocked to hear the news about longtime Democratic political aide Kristi Willis and her "liberation" of $166,000 from Congressman Lloyd Doggett's coffers, along with more than $25,000 from other Democratic candidates and causes.

Maybe she was saving up to buy a new condo in the swank new high-rise at Third and Nueces.

Her lawyer Charles Grigson said that Willis feels horrible about her actions and is suffering from some serious psychological issues.

"Kristi Willis deeply regrets her actions and intends to repay all of the money taken without authorization. She has a serious personal psychological problem that has manifested itself in a spending addiction for which she is seeking long-term professional help," he said

Look, we have a few thousand in credit card debt and some psychological issues of our own, so we know the uphill battle she faces and wish her the best. But with all that said, we feel the whole situation still calls for a stern reprimand. So here goes: Shame on you, Kristi Willis. Lloyd Doggett trusted you and, we can imagine, only treated you with the utmost respect. He's one of the good guys. And you do this to him why? All so you can get a house in Hyde Park and a 2001 Volvo? For shame.

As mentioned, Doggett was not the only one bamboozled, Texas House District 48 Democratic candidate Andy Brown and Capitol Area Democratic Women were also taken to the cleaners by Willis.
