Grinding Our Own Around Here

Right, right, right. This isn’t “Austin-specific”, but it’s damn-sure important.

Wow. It will never cease to be fascinating how some people are incapable of any empathy whatsoever. As if their way is not only the best, but the only way. And all other solutions, being bogus, deserve to be squashed. By violence, if necessary.

Sure, there’s a couple of conclusions being jumped here. The first one being that the kid in the CNN article (unnamed here) has yet to be proven guilty, so we won’t assume as much. All we will conclude is that someone did indeed do what was described by witnesses. What concerns us more than the specific identity of the perpetrator is the second conclusion that’s being jumped.

And the second conclusion is that this kid’s motivation for being so disgustingly gruesome was hatched somewhere between a severe emotional disorder and what was probably a daily dose of environmental homophobia. A hatchet to the head? For the love of all that is human and/or holy… Who the fuck does something like that? Can there even BE a reasonable motive? NO. Inconsolable over here. Ever tried to shoot someone in the face? POINT-BLANK? Dude might as well have tried to tear people’s faces off with his mentally disturbed maw. In-fucking-consolable.

Again, there’s a conclusion that’s being jumped to. Perhaps when the kid wandered into the bar, acting all ghoulish and shit, he fully intended to get his gay-on. However, he had a misshapen idea of what it means to BE gay. So warped, perhaps, was his vision of homosexuality that he mistakenly believed mortal wounds, death, and face-to-face combat between well-armed and unarmed men constituted “normal homosexual activity”.

But come on. We all know the dude went in there to do exactly what he did. In his head, he probably referred to this reprehensible act of brutish savagery as his “mission” or some such nonsense. And he knew the entire time what it was he was doing. Growing up in Houston, we saw this same mindset repeat the same bigoted, asshole-spawn, “my daddy, my church and I don’t understand it, so I am allowed to fucking demean/destroy it if I so choose” depraved, pathetically regressive shit-thought…

Yeah. We’re a little pissed at this right now. You should be too, regardless of your sexual preference. Because that mindset NEVER limits itself to choosing ONE behavior to beat down below the ranks of all others. It chooses to beat down ALL behaviors below the ranks of ONE SINGLE other. As experiences between us lead to infinity, we all become victims of this diseased logic. It’s self-defeating by design, and no one wins.

If we prayed much around here, we would pray for the victims. Instead, we’ll just voice our support for their quick recovery, and hope that they don’t start to hate their fellow man as much as their attacker obviously does. Fucking coward. Ruined our birthday and shit.
