Political News Bits from the Wild West

- Lt. Gov. Dewy announced that Feb. 14 will be the runoff election date in the House District 48 race. It will be Democrat Donna Howard against republican Ben Bentzin, and the blood will flow my friends. It's real; it's raw. It's the House District 48 showdown!
- The governor's race is already getting spicy! Independent candidate Carole Strayhorn says that she is against private school vouchers. In fact, Strayhorn has accused Gov. Ricky of dismantling public schools in favor of vouchers. This left Democrat Chris Bell asking why Strayhorn accepted $100,000 in campaign donations from a millionaire voucher advocate.
- Now onto our favorite newsmaker. The prosecutor kicking DeLay's ass has issued a second round (we're losing count) of subpoenas seeking records surrounding donations to the former Republican leader Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham. These subpoenas focus on transactions in 2002 involving Perfect Wave Technologies LLC, a "company" controlled by Brent Wilkes, a businessman with ties to DeLay and Cunningham.
- In other (seemingly unrelated) news, sex.com has reportedly sold for $12 million. And, no, we didn't link to it, cause we know how those tech people at work can be.
