Just Guns CD Release @ Beerland Tonight!

Would you be surprised to know that Waco, Texas is home to a bunch of great bands? If so, you might be even more surprised to find out that there are so many great bands based out of or from Waco, that they've formed the Waco Co-op, "a collective of musicians who desire to create meaningful and creative music in the context of [their] relationship to each other." The co-op counts popular Austin groups Loxsly and Stories From the Frontier as members. The latter just so happen to be one of our favorite local bands and are playing at Beerland tonight for the Just Guns CD release show. Lead singer, John Kelley (who also lends his skills as drummer for Loxsly) writes folk-pop gems with catchy melodies that make us want to dance.
We've never seen headliners, Just Guns, but we've gone country lately, so we are really fucking excited. Luckily, their songs have a tinge of rock so we can maintain our indie cred. We also need to give a shout out to the crime-fighting DJ duo, northKorean, who you may remember from our Local Music is Sexy party during ACL weekend. They have such impeccable taste that even former Austinist editor, Ben Brown, loves them...and he doesn't like anything except breakfast tacos.
