Wynn Set To Announce Bid for Re-Election

Mayor Will Wynn is set to officially announce his bid for re-election in just a few weeks. His campaign website -- wynnagain.com -- has yet to provide much information, save for a frontpage letter to his adoring public, promising a "substantive, positive campaign focused on the issues that matter most to our community." Burnt Orange reports that Wynn has already managed to raise a hefty $40,430, a record amount since the Fair Campaign Ordinance was passed nearly a decade ago. As their website disclaimer explains, Wynn's campaign will not adhere to ordinance's contribution and expenditure limits -- as such, no public funds will be utilized.

Meanwhile, there's also Mayor Pro Tem Danny Thomas, who Burnt Orange helpfully points out was a supporter of November's Prop 2 and the sole member of the City Council to oppose Wynn's call for solidarity last Fall:

“I just made it clear that I don’t have anything against anyone, but I don’t believe in same sex marriage,” said Thomas. “I'm in favor of proposition 2.” Danny Thomas was attending a church convention in Lubbock Monday.

Wynn's re-election announcement/party is scheduled for Februay 3rd (5pm) at the Broken Spoke, with music provided by Asleep at the Wheel.
