Video about the Radio Stars

We love Air America, oh yes, we do. The very concept makes our inner liberal quiver with glee. Seriously, who isn’t secretly in love with Janeane Garofalo? We’re lucky to live in one of the American cities where one can listen freely to Air America (1600 AM), but it hasn’t been such an easy road for the nationwide radio network. Gosh, it’s hard to imagine why.
Tonight the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown is screening “Left of the Dial,” a documentary by filmmakers Patrick Farrelly and Kate O’Callaghan that follows the triumphs and pitfalls of Air America beginning 12 days prior to its launch in March 2004. Meet the people behind the station, see what almost brought the project to an end, and get an insider’s glimpse into rehearsals with the famous faces of the station, including Al Franken, Randi “Better Than Hannity” Rhodes, and Janeane Garofalo (our future BFF).
You can listen to Air America all day on 1600 AM or online.
