Return of the G/M Steakhouse?

Let's hope so. Austinist was quite happy to read the following in last week's Austin Chronicle Postmarks:
Dear Editor,I just read Virginia Wood's article on my dad's restaurant, the G/M Steakhouse ["Food-o-File," Food, Dec. 30]. It's true that my father, Gus, has decided to hang up his spatula and turn west toward his sunset, but it doesn't mean the G/M is gone forever. I have decided to keep the spot going and negotiated a lease with the owner of the property to reopen the classic diner that many "true" Austinites have grown accustomed to. There will be some remodeling for the next few weeks to regain that old G/M charm and, unfortunately for Gus, no smoking. I look forward to serving up good food to all the "regulars" and newbies in the coming years.

i'd rather have reido's back than G/M. i miss those sliders.
How are cheese sliders btw? :-) I was quite sad when they kicked him out. He said he wanted to find another location but I haven't heard anything.
the best! i still crave them. he did say he was going to look for another place. i assume he would email his faithful and let them know when he found a new home. maybe now G/M will consider letting him have the night shift again.
seriously. we miss reidos.
oh, reido... why, oh why?
i wish i had a large kitchen to invite him to... so i could enjoy those late night sliders again.
another great thing about reido's was the late night entertainment. all the people that came by to get burgers were mildly crazy, and i heard quite a few really funny phrases that i can't quite repeat.
Dear everyone who commented about Reido's...
I love you.
Dear GM Steakhouse...
I hate you.
