Pat Forgione Has a Plan

aisdlogo.gif

Last night, Pat Forgione announced his vision for 2010 to the school trustees. Included in this plan are two possible concept schools: a Young Women's Leadership Academy (grades 6-12) and a High School for Global Studies, both to be housed at the current Porter Middle School Campus. It would be nice to see more description of these two proposed schools. How will a single-gender school and a multi-gender high school benefit from being at the same campus? What do Global Studies encompass exactly? Will these schools be comparable to current magnet programs, or would they be different?

Also included in the Superintendent's proposed plan are new pre-K campuses (replacing Becker and Oak Springs Elementary Schools and the Lucy Read Professional Development Academy). News8Austin has more information.

I am glad to see the schools boards mention here. I work in one of the schools proposed to be closed. This plan is really impacting several communities. There is a lot at plan here, whether we want to close 3 communitiy schools is a different matter than what we think of a girls high school or prek center- but they are connected for the district right now.
