Austin Film Society's Gonna Party Like It's 1985

afs_party.jpg

Austin Film Society turns 20 this year, and tonight they're celebrating by hosting a huge party at Austin Studios. Acclaimed director and Austinite Richard Linklater and AFS founders will be debuting the brand spankin' new 20th Anniversary Retrospective Book, which AFS members (current and new) will receive a copy of. The free soiree comes replete with music, Ruby's BBQ and drinks from Tito's Vodka and Dos Equis/Capitol Beverage. They'll also have a whole new line of AFS t-shirts for sale. No RSVP is required, and guests are welcome!

Coincidentally, this is also the 10th anniversary of the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund (TFPF) and the 5th anniversary of Austin Studios.

  • "Coincidentally"? How so? Nothing coincidental about.

Anyway... yeah, you'd think that after TWENTY FREAKING YEARS the monkeys at AFS would know how to throw a party without running out of food in 45 minutes (much less keeping people in line for food that didn't exist).

  • Hungry

It was a great party, especially the part where they ran out of food at 7:15. Fantastic party planning, the no RSVP thing worked out great.
