yea, i wrote a preview piece for a sports webstie about how people were not giving UT enough credit and figured USC would win by at least a touchdown. my last line of the piece was: "And never underestimate what Superman can do."

i remember being at his first game against New Mexico St. a couple of years ago when he made two crazy passes and multiple ling runs. we all looked at each other and already declared, best UT qb ever. whoa! now the texans have a lot of thinking to do, but it looks like bush is the money pick.

Odam--Nice use of the Superman tag! Completely appropriate! Also, anytime you can work in a jab at Cameron Indoor, that's cool, too.

Peyton Manning is the only person i can recall who ever stayed in school when he could have been #1 and then actually went #1 the following year. Of course he never beat florida, so there's that. Anywho...

Not that it matters particularly, but it was Dodgrlvr33 (Eman) who said that Vince should stay at UT.

I think Bush will still go number 1, as the Texans are heavily invested in Carr. But really, should it matter that much from Vince's perspective whether he goes number one or is picked 2 by the Saints? He's still going to make a huge amount of money this year. And you never know what may happen if you stay in college an extra year. I'm sure Matt Leinart thought he would be #1 this year for sure, but that is obviously not going to happen.

I don't know where in there we said he should stay or wasn't ready. The Housotn Texans have a huge choice to make re: Bush v. Young. At worst Vince would go third or fourth this year, at best #1. Next year he would be #1 for sure, but that's not enough reason for him to stay. WHerever he goes he does not need to be starting in his first year. Bush will bring immediate impact to the Texans but Vince would be the popular opinion winner. I would not wan to be Casserly and McNair right now. If they pass on vince and he becomes a star somewhere else, the backlash will be amazing. If the Texans tell svince they are staying with reggie, i think there is a good chance he comes back for back-to-back tropihes, a heisman, his degree and the guaranteed number one spot. who knows?

Why in the world should Vince stay at UT? His stock will never be higher, and he's basically giving away millions of dollars if he doesn't enter the draft this year. Do you seriously think he's not ready for the NFL? That's INSANE.

First off as a UCLA fan Im glad to see USC humbled. As a Michigan fan, it kills me to see Texas win at the Rose Bowl again. But as a HUGE Dogder fan it pains me to hear you incorrectly credit the call of one of the greatest homeruns in baseball history to the wrong guy. Jack Buck, not Vin Scully made the famous call of Kirk's homerun off of Dennis Eckersley.

As for lauri and the self contradicting comment above... if you had been watching all the games this past season, you would see why Bush won the Heisman. I mean after all, its the reason you were hearing so much about him in the first place, and why he will be the first player picked in the NFL draft.

Vince Young had probably the greatest single performance ever in a championship game and will be remembered for that for a long time If he decides to come back for his senior season (which I think he should do) Texas will undoubtedly be the favorite to win it again next year.

It was kinda cool to take a peek into the world of a fan obviously psyched about winning a championship. Hopefully, my teams will get to feel that elation that you expressed in your post. You had some great catches of details during the last few plays of the game. 2nd and 7 is a sound that will haunt the Trojans forever. YOURE UP BY 5 WITH LESS THAN 3 MINUTES IN THE GAME!! WHY THE &$#)@ ARE YOU PASSING THE BALL!??! That was my buddy's cry at the game. Incomplete pass, clock stops, and you face 3rd and 7 instead of possibly 3rd and 2 (White was having his way in the 2nd half when USC took their head out their ass and gave him the ball)

Anyway, enjoy the well deserved win, rest up and pray that Saint Vincent stays for a final year in Austin.

go TEXAS!!!!!!

The game was amazing. Vince was unstoppable and proved that he should have won the Heisman this year. I wasn't very impressed by Reggie Bush. His mid-air flip touchdown was pretty cool but other than that he didn't show the talent I had expected to see after hearing so much about him.

I can't believe we did it. I honestly didn't have much hope for a victory and it's still a bit unbelievable.

Good article, despite the typos. By the way, thanks for posting something about the game worth reading other than that useless article below.

Right on, man. I think that game was the greatest thing I've ever witnessed in my life. I think someday I'll be looking at my firstborn child and thinking, "Wow, this is almost as cool as the time I saw Vince Young scamper into the end zone with 19 seconds left in the Rose Bowl."
