Tonight, The Dionysium is having a New Year's party. In keeping with a little known tradition, they will not have a debate this time, but will have all sorts of unusual activities, including 2006 predictions from local cognoscenti and other surprises. So from our understanding, this will not be a typical Dionysium, but a big celebration with much more.
We're relieved that we don't have to maintain any facade of soberness as we have at other Dionysium events. And we're also relieved we don't have to sit at home this evening, drinking and sobbing silently to ourselves whilst watching something inane and brain-rotting on tv. Instead, we'll get to celebrate it up and be in the realm of intelligent and funny people who talk about interesting subjects.
The program is as follows:
A DECLAMATION
William Jennings Bryan's "Cross of Gold" Speech
Read by Mike O' Connor
A SCENE
From Beckett's Endgame
DIONYSIUM RECOMMENDS
Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus
By L.B. Deyo
and MUCH, MUCH MORE
