We love a good tailgate party every so often, and we're starting to get a little excited about the upcoming primaries in March, which is why we're passing this tidbit onto you:
Former assistant county attorney Sarah Eckhardt, daughter of former US Rep. Bob Eckhardt from Houston, announced earlier in the week her intention to run against incumbent Democrat Karen Sonleitner for the Precinct 2 seat on the Travis County Commissioners Court. Running on a platform that focuses on "transportation and land-use issues, public safety and increased access to health care as her top priorities," she's kicking off her campaign with a party tomorrow: a Toll Booth Tail Gate Party, to be exact.
Way up north, past Parmer Lane and inching into that strange territory we like to call "just barely Austin," they're be gathering at the MoPac Toll Booths for some hot drinks, treats, roadside caroling, and horn-tooting:
·Blow your horn for Travis County tax payers making our own decisions on transportation – Tolls on highways we’ve already paid for is not the way to go!·Blow your horn for Travis County government preserving our quality of life, protecting our environment and promoting strong communities in every part of the county;
·Blow your horn for a healthy Travis County; and
·Blow your horn for community policing and well run courts.
To be fair, we're not taking sides in the primaries for now - we invite Sonleitner's to send us details on their little parties, as well. Particularly if they involve the consumption of alcohol.
