This Week's New Movie Releases!

Countdown to the holidays, people. With all the cold weather we’ll be having, it’s a great time to take a break from mall-madness and catch a movie. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re already aware that Peter Jackson’s monster LOTR follow-up, *King Kong, hit theatres on Wednesday, and it’s getting rave reviews. Why shouldn’t it? Giant gorillas are sooooo cute.

The Family Stone
We swear, this movie comes out in some form every Christmas. This particular incarnation stars Carrie Bradshaw Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams, Dermot Mulroney, Diane Keaton, and the ubiquitous Luke Wilson.

*Brokeback Mountain Austinist review
Don’t call it a gay cowboy movie, because it ain’t. Well, it is, but really, it ain’t.

*Austinist recommends. We also recommend these fine first-runs: Capote, Good Night and Good Luck, Shopgirl, The Squid and the Whale, Jarhead, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Syriana, Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic

Can we call it the Gay Cowboy Joint?

    King Kong was awesome.

The girls are going to cry.

There are 2 scenes that are a little overdone and will make some of you squirm in your seats.
