Like almost all corporate moves, this one is being done because it will make the commute shorter for the boss (and no, it won't really make the commute shorter for AMD employees; most of whom live north of the river anyways).

In this case, the boss' home is off Barton Creek Blvd. over in the country club. Big surprise.

It doesn't really matter how much "green" building AMD does on this site... There's no way to get around the fact that moving 2,000-3,000 employees to a sensitive area is a bad thing to do. With all the money they're spending on trying to make this site acceptable, they could have planned a cool campus in the heart of downtown, like Silicon Labs is doing.

I have simply lost all respect for AMD.
