Belly (and heart) Full of Goodness

More people need to be going to the Ben & Jerry's shop for their ice cream. Sure, it's not a local business like Amy's, but your scoop purchases do help out a local organization and that is just as great. Plus it's insanely yummy ice cream.

Lifeworks does a lot of good things for Austin youth and their families. They provide shelter, counseling, life-skills training, parenting and educational support for teen parents, and work to provide overall support to homeless and runaway youth. One great thing LifeWorks did is partner with Ben & Jerry's to open a scoop shop so that some of the youth it serves can work there and learn job skills and gain work experience. On top of that, all the proceeds go back to supporting LifeWork's multiple programs.

The shop is located on 5th and Lamar and is sort of hidden there behind Seattle's Best Coffee. We know this isn't exactly the time of year when Austinites are yearning for ice cream fixes, but that Minter Wonderland Shake does sound pretty good!

Great ice cream for a good cause!

WHY do Ben and Jerry insist on putting hard chips/chunks of chocolate in all of ther ice creams? i just want it soft and chewy, y'know?

sorry keep austin weirderes, b&j's kicks amy's ass all.day.long.

For those North Austin dwellers, there's a new B&J location at Burnet & 183, right next door to Taco Deli. Mmmmm, Taco Deli! Oh, and there's a Mangia in there, too. Mmmmm, Mangia!

I confess I stop by B&J about once/week. My waistline doesn't thank me, but my tastebuds sure do. Mmmmm, NY Superfudge Chunk!

i had no idea there was a story behind that particular ben&jerry's! thanks for scoop, coffey.

get it? hah! scoop!
