Don't Play No Reindeer Games

Just when you were thinking that it was the time of year that sitting on your ass in front of the television watching "Charlie Brown's Christmas Special" was socially acceptable because it's cold outside, we're here to tell you you're just silly. There are a plethora of runs happening this weekend, all in the name of the holiday season.

And you thought that cookies and hot chocolate were your friends. We know, we know.

Saturday morning, you've got a few to choose from. The Reindeer Run in Round Rock is a 5K Fun Run and walk that supports Toys for Tots. Take a new toy to donate! There's even going to be a costume contest at this event. That's all we needed- we're so there!

Also on Saturday morning is the Compass Bank Jingle Bell Run . This 5K Fun Run is in Temple at the Scott and White Temple campus. You can be competitive or not, or you can do the Family Fun 1K. Easy Schmeasy, right?

And because we wouldn't want you to get bored, the Jingle Bell 5K for St. Jude's Ranch for Children is in New Braunfels. It begins at 9am in Landa Park ends with a big par-tay - go ahead and wear those annoyingly festive jingle bells on your ankles, we dare you.

The Trail of Lights Race is probably going to be the most popular race going on this weekend. Its an evening 5K (Saturday at 6:30pm) that helps kick-off the lighting of the Trail of Lights. (One of the many activities going on that evening for the lighting ceremony.) It promises to be a fun course, winding through all the cool displays at Zilker. We're going to run it with those cool light-refractor-3D-paper glasses that make the lights look even cooler. We hope we don't bust our asses. That would be embarassing.

Lastly, if you're willing to travel all over Central Texas to run those buns off, we're going to mention the Weihnachten 5K Fun Run, Walk and Kids Dash in Fredericksburg on Sunday morning. It's all fun and games, and you'll get to spend some time in the lovely Hill Country.
