We like things that are "weird, dark, and Scottish."

Here's something you don't see everyday. Literally. The Alamo South Lamar is hosting an unusual event next week called The Audible Picture Show. This is a unique initiative from the lovely city of Edinburgh, Scotland, and it features a series of audio "films" to be experienced in a dark cinema. Warning: this show requires acts of the imagination.

The Audible Picture Show's curator and presenter, Matt Hulse, has this to say:

We're aiming to highlight what's possible with audio alone, beyond what we might ordinarily hear on radio. It's important to remember that our experience of the world is 'spatial'. We're informed and transformed by our environment & by the soundscape around us. With audio elements alone, it's possible to create a convincing 'place' in the darkness of a cinema, which the audience can be led through, can be positioned within, given a 'point of view' from which to experience events.

Sounds trippy, and definitely worth a peek, er, listen.
