Something's Rotten in the State of Delaware

hulk.jpg

It doesn't matter anymore how much we love the sub sandwiches at Delaware Sub Shop. We are never going there again! Under no circumstances should it ever take 30 minutes to get one simple sub (not even a cheesesteak, mind you). This is especially true if for many of those 30 minutes there are three smiley blokes behind the counter having jolly conversation. We don't mean to be the curmudgeonly patron. We understand that great things take time and that our modern culture is way too into fast and easy fixes, but really, people, 30 minutes?

  • Deleware's customer service is always poor. But do what I do whenever you get the need for a sub and call ahead of time. That way you can walk right up and get your food. Even if I'm driving right over I'll call ahead.

I go to the one inside Golfsmith on 35 for lunch. No wait and the guys there actually remember your orders - for those wed. and thur. cheesesteaks of course!

As a former TCloud employee I can never bring myself to eat their food again. Hog Island Deli on Lavaca & 15th is the best sub spot.

Delaware has gotten grungier and grungier and slackier and slackier since I moved here 13 years ago. I never go anymore except to the 34th Street one, at dinnertime, which is an off period for them. And only for the cheesesteak.

The new king of the meatball sub in Austin is Home Slice.

I love Delaware Subs and have never had a problem there. I've had more issues with the attitudes of the folks at Thundercloud more than anything- but everyone's entitled to have a bad day, right?

  • Let's just blame them for the failure of light rail, anyway!

It was the location on 34th Street, near Seton.

  • Man, I agree; I love their subs but the service was always, just always, very very awful. My experience was with 4 different outlets (I used to go all the time) - Anderson Mill, Spicewood/Mesa, Parmer, and 34th.

There's got to be some way I can blame these guys for defeating light rail in 2000, but I can't come up with one right now, dammit.

I too would wonder which location. I've had some shitty service at the Metric location, mainly taking too long to get a sandwich... the two for one Wednesday just makes it worth it though.

    Which Delaware was it?

Yow! That's annoying!! Me, I frequent Thundercloud. Those folks really know how to slap together a delicious tuna sub, and pronto!

If it eases your pain, I'll share some of mine. I found a pebble in my food today at Madras Pavilion. Told 'em about it & they still charged me full price for the meal. ($8, buffet. Hmf.)

I discovered the pebble by crunching on it with a rear molar. My teeth are fine...I hope...but errrrgh, it was a little disturbing to chomp down thinking "soft vegetarian Indian food" but getting "hard mineral Non food".
