We're coming up on the last few weekends for the Austin Farmer's Market, a "vital part of the community and the Austin experience." The AFM is an awesome place to get fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and more. Not only that, but it's a fun place to spend a Saturday morning. Roll out of bed and get down there, and you'll be glad you did. It's like brunch outside!
It's a growers-only market, so you're assured of the freshest foodstuffs. And there's nothing like looking into the eyes of the person who grew your food. Eating locally not only makes you feel good by supporting the farmers - it has other benefits as well.

thanks for the reminder, aaron - i've always meant to check this out but i never seem to get up in time. good to know that there's a sense of urgency
It definitely makes for a great Saturday morning. It really is an event. And you do get a few good meals out of your shopping as well. The good thing is that next year they will be going year round.
The Sunset Valley Farmer's Market is bigger and better, and open all year.
