UT Alumnus and Renowned Sculptor Mark Williamson Teams Up With University Co-Op

The University Co-Op is adding another new item in its catalog upgrade. Award-winning sculptor Mark Williamson, a 1991 graduate of UT’s College of Engineering, will cast small bronze replicas of “Alexander Frederick Claire” (Alec), known as the Patron Saint of the College of Engineering at the University of Texas. The statue weighs two pounds and stands about 7 inches tall. The Saint became part of local lore when drunk engineering students absconded with the statue from a local tavern and placed it in front of the Main Building. Oh, those wacky engineering students.

Wow, that is pretty cool if you ask me. Any College of Engineering grads out there? Would this make a meaningful gift for someone who got Engineering degrees from UT...?
