Alternative Holiday Shopping: The Travis Heights Art Walk

We went on the Travis Heights Art Walk today, and were pleasantly surprised by how much there was to see. Unique, handmade goods, including sculptures, ceramics, handcrafted furniture, woodwork, quilt wall hangings, eclectic clothing, intricately-patterned pillows, photography, and even more.
Since it's that time of the year when we're more prone to shopping, the studios were a wonderful alternative to fighting the crowds at the mall. And with the weather as beautiful as it was today and the studio houses in such close proximity to one another, it was easy to see it all on foot. You get your exercise points for that, too!
And if you've ever gone through one of the priciest neighborhoods in Austin and wanted to see inside the fabulous houses in this hilly neighborhood, this is your chance to peek behind the doors and meet the creative people who live in Travis Heights.
For those who didn't get out today because they were either still suffering from post-turkey food comas, or simply hungover, the show's also going on tomorrow (Saturday) from 11AM to 5PM. You can find a map for the studios here.
