    is anyone surprised?

travis co. is a tiny blue speck in a gigantic red desert.

just because the administration can't shoot straight doesn't mean the neo-con mouthbreather set just goes away to let liberals have their victories.

still a long way to go...generations and generations worth of insecurity, ignorance and idiocy to weed out of the collective gene pool.

    ahhh....someday.

The contest in Texas was decided quickly — the ban was receiving about 76 percent support with about a third of precincts reporting. Like every other state except Massachusetts, Texas didn't permit same-sex marriages previously, but the constitutional amendment was touted as an extra guard against future court rulings.

"Texans know that marriage is between a man and a woman, and children deserve both a mom and a dad. They don't need a PhD or a degree in anything else to teach them that," said Kelly Shackelford, a leader Texans For Marriage, which favored the gay marriage ban.

    YEEEEEE-HAAAAWWWWW!

Yep, I voted NO on the jail bond, too, for the same reason. I don't always agree with AusChron's politics. Just put them out there for what it was worth. Which, uh, now that it's after 7:00 isn't too very much.

I voted NO on the jail bond:

I think we need to change our policies and enforcement instead.

I voted YES on the mortgage amendment because I think seniors should be able to make their own decisions on finances. The Chronicle says it will mean lenders preying on older people, but I think they should have the choice.

I voted. It was easy. The ballot is very short. FWIW, the Austin Chronicle endorses voting YES on all of the money items (three bond propositions) and NO on all of the amendments.
