Sorry, the link for the Chicago Times article wasn&apos;t working when I originally posted, so I assumed that you were talking about lyposuction - which amazingly enough has exactly the same factor as this surgery 4.6, but off a few decimals.

Maybe that&apos;s some mystical number when it comes to weight surgery mortality...&lt;/p&gt;</description>

<description>&lt;p&gt;Your stat for death from liposuction is incorrect.  It is 4.6 people out of 10,000 that result in death from complications of the surgery.  That equals 0.046%.

Here is a link to the results.  Not as juicy a read as the Chicago Times article - it&apos;s from a professional abstract - but more correct.

Trust me, if 4.6% of patients died from a cosmetic procedure, that procedure would be outlawed.
Frankly, 0.046% is still too high.  I recommend putting that money in some self-esteem courses...&lt;/p&gt;</description>
