Cinephiles rejoice! The Austin Film Festival kicks off this Thursday, featuring a bevy of shorts, documentaries, advance screenings and parties!

Of course, the festival is not just about watching movies; it’s also a fantastic opportunity for you wannabe filmmakers to hear from a slew of panelists about the craft of filmmaking and the industry in general. Among the distinguished panelists at the screenwriters’ conference are Judd Apatow (40-Year-Old Virgin, Freaks and Geeks, The Larry Sanders Show), Shane Black (Lethal Weapon I & II) and Anne Rapp (Cookie’s Fortune). Check out a complete list of panelists. In addition, Harold Ramis and Mike Judge will both be honored with awards.

Film passes and badges are still available online, with internet sales ending tomorrow at 9pm. After that time you will be able to purchase passes/badges when you register at the Driskill Hotel downtown. One may also purchase tickets at each individual screening, but we highly advise getting a pass. Pass and badge holders will be admitted first, with any available space left for ticket holders. But, as well know, space is generally very limited, and it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
