Local Music is Sexy Band Profile: Visitors

Excuse our brief but unforgivable hiatus from telling you all about the awesome bands playing at Austinist and Trojan Condom's Local Music is Sexy party - happening this Saturday night at the Velvet Spade - we've been hankering down in our subterranean bunker, devouring Bret Easton Ellis' Lunar Park (which we'll both rant and rave about next week) and doing whatever we can to stave off these newfound feelings of paranoia. But that's all passed.

4887614_73b7c54aa2_t.jpgOur third band of the evening - the first two being Peel and The Interest Kills - are Visitors. Don't call them The Visitors, or they'll break your face. Seriously. We have the scars to prove it. And in fact, we adore these boys so much that we let them write their own band bio - a feat, as you'll soon discover, that put us to shame.

4887441_ea642981ac_t.jpgVisitors began in 1979 when Jason Saldana (guitars, vocals) exploded out of his mother's womb and onto the rock-and-roll scene. Eighteen short months later, his brother Nicholas Saldana (keyboards, vocals) was born, providing all the heartbreak, bitterness and jealousy needed to spark any truly artistic endeavor. In high school, the Saldana brothers met their rhythm section – David Yelacic (bass), your run-of-the mill gargantuan hippy swimmer, and Louis Singh (drums), whose only mentionable blurb is that he was born to poor Vietnamese immigrants. Their story is much more compelling than his. But we'll save that for our next live show.

4887444_88ee0ea58d_t.jpgVisitors play a unique blend of rock-and-roll. Preliminary exit polls indicate 49% unbelievably soothing "rock" and 51% undeniably catchy "roll" – still too close to call. However, one thing is clear: incumbent pop-punk/emo bands better pack their bags and prepare to get the F* out of office.
