We told you about Enoteca Vespaio last week, and tipped you off that they were going to start serving brunch this past weekend. Well, we heeded our own advice and had ourselves a bit of brunch yesterday, and we were very, very impressed.
We're not food writers, so we're not going to try to be flowerly with our writing here. Our meal consisted of two cups of cappucino, a bread plate featuring 3 slices of italian baguette kinda stuff, 3 slices of fruity bread, and 3 small scones along with marmalade, butter, and nutella, proscuitto and spinach crepes with creamy mushroom sauce, and eggs scrambled with spinach and mushrooms. The bread plate was tasty, and a nice morning starter, but the variety of breads was a tad uncreative. The egg dishes were excellent -- dishes where you could really taste and enjoy each ingredient separately, but also as an interesting combination. We're really deep, eh? We also had a side of the camelized potatoes, which were sweet and savory and crunchy and delicious. Get the potatoes. Seriously.
All these dishes were less than $10 - the bread plate was only $6.50, which is about what it costs us to get a bagel and a coffee at our favorite coffee shop. The crepes were $8.50. Not too shabby, especially seeing as the atmosphere of the restaurant, the high level of service from their staff, and the quality of their food could easily dictate prices quite a lot higher.
It was also nice to see a restaurant with an affordable menu that did not include queso, chicken friend steak, barbeque, or tacos of any variety, breakfast or otherwise.
So you get our point. Sunday Brunch at Enoteca Vespaio is awesome and you would be stupid not to try it out.

But I love chicken friend steak, Ben! : )
You're a food snob, Ben.
I resent that. I don't limit my snobbery to only food.
Oops. misread that last post completely due to multi-tasking. Thought it was Ben's response to my earlier post. My bad. Guess it's time to go home. Or stop drinkin'. Or start drinkin' more.
