Going to “The Office” on a Thursday Night...Are We Mad? Yes, Completely.

We can argue this until we’re blue in the face, but at the end of the day, you have to come to terms with it – “The Office” is the best comedy in the history of television. Our apologies to “The Simpsons,” “The Larry Sanders Show,” “Mr. Show,” “Cheers” and whatever else you've got, but Ricky Gervais and Co. set the bar.

In recognition of their brilliance, The Alamo Village Drafthouse is showing episodes of “The Office” every Thursday night in the month of September. We sadly missed last week, but we're back on top of things and will be there tonight to celebrate this delightful import. And this is not just a screening - ‘it’s a celebration, bitches.’ (oops, wrong show). For example, before the show tonight there will be an Office Pub Quiz, just like in the show. And, don’t worry, you're not driving all the way up north for 40 minutes of fun, as the Alamo shows three episodes each Thursday.

So, tonight, you get episodes four-six. Tickets are only $5 AND the tickets serve as a voucher for food and beverage. So, really, you are getting in for free, as long as you get something to eat or drink. You can’t beat that. Come out tonight before you hit the bars and celebrate the genius of Gervais. We will be the ones in the back spilling beer all over ourselves in laughter.

Check out ridiculous “The Office” and Gervais-related items/sounds/etc. here .

We wonder, what is your favorite memory of “The Office”? And, if it’s not the greatest show ever, what is? (And keep your, "Sorry, I don't watch TV, I am sure the show is rubbish" comments to yourself, this is the intraweb, not democracy.) And, be on the lookout for Gervais’ new show. “Extras”, a TV show about a delusional actor (Gervais) who keeps losing out on parts to actual stars, all the while blaming his bad luck and the good fortune of those far more talented than he.

"I'm Alan Partridge," you mean, you foul mouthed streetwalker? Good stuff, indeed. Did you know there is also the Alan Partridge movie in prduciton and set for release in 2007? Hopefully I will escape the death grasp of mark hammer and be alive to see it.

No question to the brilliance of The Office, Odam, but have you seen The Alan Partridge Show? Good stuff.

the david brent sing along night should be a hoot.

there is advd extra on the xmas special, i think, that shows the full video of brent doing "if you don't know me by now"

I like that same episode as mentioned by forklifter driver, but I like it when they're discussing David's songs. "No, no, he's not gay." And of course, when Brent is singing the song "Free Love on the Free Love Freeway."

"i said i think there's been a rape up there..."

    good grief. so classic

"sometimes the complaints will be false"

  • When Dawn and Tim interrogate Gareth about his stealthy military techniques (If you were taking a man, would you approach from the front or take him from behind?).

Too bad the showtime at Alamo is past my bedtime. And would require me to leave my apartment.
