Before we talk about the Big 12, let's look at the top ranked squad. To no one's surprise, USC crushed Hawaii 63-17. Heisman trophy winner Matt Leinart threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns. The Trojans looked good as they start their quest for their third consecutive national title.

and now Big 12 news ....

Dancing bears and raining frogs after the jump.

The big news of the week is not UT's win over the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana Lafayette. No, that honor goes to the mighty Horned Frogs of TCU. TCU over OU 17-10. We know lots of you have been chanting it for years, but now it is official. OU sucks! OU sucks! Tye Gunn threw for 226 yards in their victory over the Sooners. It appears that the OU underestimated their opponent. After all, they were Big 12 champs last year, and they were playing at home against the unranked Horned Frogs. Last year Peterson received the most Heisman votes ever as a freshman, but Peterson proved to be no Superman as he only rushed for 5 yards in 8 attempts during the first half. He did have a better second half, ending with 63 yards, but OU looks weak. Thompson started the game, but Bomar played his fair share. It looks like Stoopes has a decision to make at QB. The Red River Shootout should be fun this year.

The FSN reporters got it right when they said that UT will be hard to beat thanks to their Triangle of Speed. Catchy, huh? With Vince Young, Selvin Young, Ramonce "The Truth" Taylor, the Horns looked unstoppable, and they will be, barring any injuries. Speaking of, it looks like Selvin may still be having trouble with his ankle. After suffering a hit directly on the ankle that he broke against Arkansas last year, Selvin took himself out of the game to have it looked at. He has 11 pins in his foot and missed last year due to the injury, so Selvin's time to shine may be hampered because of his unsure footing. Jamaal Charles looked great as he cut through defenders proving to be a much needed backup to Young, but we think the most exciting runs came courtesy of the Dancing Bear, Henry Melton. Or should we say the second coming of The Bus. Melton resembles Jerome Bettis's running style so much that it is uncanny. Melton is a power runner, knocking down whoever stand between him and the goal line. The only question mark about UT's game yesterday was McGee's PATs. That needs to be a given. There is no room for errors in PATs, and McGee left 3 points on the board. Yeah, they won big against Louisiana-Lafayette, but next week they face Ohio St., and they're gonna need all the points they can get.

Speaking of Ohio St., the Buckeyes look to dominate their division as they trounced Miami University 34-14. Next week will be the deciding factor for the Longhorns. If they can take care of business in Columbus, then the rest of the season should be in the bag.

The best part of UT's game? When the camera was filming a group of students, and one of the kids had a shirt that said "Fuck ya'll! I'm from Texas." Let's see if the FCC gets any complaints.
