Helping The Animals, Too

molly.jpg

The Humane Society of Austin has organized a relief effort for pets of Katrina evacuees. By calling the special Hurricane Pet Hotline at 512-646-PETS, The Humane Society can help find temporary placement for pets in need or provide supplies to those without. Austinites can volunteer to man the phone bank, foster pets, or provide supplies like food. Call 512-837-7985 for more information.

FYI, our picture is of Molly Mocha. To adopt her or other dogs (or cats) visit the Humane Society of Austin at 124 West Anderson Lane.

Oh man, things that are totally awesome in this one little sentence :

    - 'no disrespect' prefacing totally disrespectful sentiment

    - misuse of 'our'

    - people actually being 'some animals', too

    - the general idea that there is a limited amount of compassion in the world and it *all* should be directed to whatever you think is the priority at any given time

    - the presumption that the human survivors or katrina wouldn't want their pets taken care of; clearly the presumption of someone who has never really loved their kitty or puppy. which is actually pretty sad, now that i think of it.

now that i've snarked, it's bedtime.
