Hello? Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me.

Don’t freak out on Sunday morning, folks. You did not drink so much on Saturday night or stand too close to the speakers that you are now permanently deaf. And, no, the Bush administration did not ransack the public radio stations across the country in search of Communist hippies to hang from the gallows. KUT is making tower and transmitter upgrades this Sunday and, therefore, will have some dead air. From the KUT e-newsletter:
KUT may be off the air in Austin for up to 10 hours on Sunday, August 28th beginning at around 9 a.m. We will be making tower and transmitter upgrades ahead of our upcoming conversion to HD Radio. This will result in a higher quality and more reliable digital signal for KUT. You will still be able to hear us online and in San Angelo at KUTX, but we may be off the air most of Sunday here in Austin. Thanks very much for your patience as we work to bring you a better sounding KUT.
We thought about not telling you, but we know you’d probably start freaking out when you didn’t hear Ira Glass Sunday morning, so we thought we’d save the KUT switchboard the headache. Besides, we’re good like that.*
*For those of you with a serious jones, you can call Austinist at home this Sunday and we will be happy to provide our own impromptu versions of This American Life, Selected Shorts and A Prairie Home Companion for your enjoyment.
