You pick up the movie. We’ll bring the popcorn. (New DVD Releases)
If you are looking for a quiet night at home on the couch this week, you’ve got a large selection of new releases from which to pick. All of the following were released today (listed in order from best to worst, as we see fit) and are available at most of your major rental houses around town, but might we suggest Vulcan Video, Waterloo, I Luv Video, or Pedazo Chunk.
Layer Cake: Guy Ritchie’s producer from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, Matthew Vaughn, ventures out on his own with this entertaining British gangster-comedy ensemble piece. Definitely worth renting.
Six Feet Under Season 4: The series may have ended last Sunday, but with last season’s episodes released today, the melodrama can live in perpetuity on your shelf.
Oldboy: A bizarre, disturbing and compelling tale of 15 years of imprisonment and one man’s attempt to exact his revenge.
Ol' Dirty Bastard - Free to Be Dirty Live: The deceased hip-hop legend plays tunes from his “Dirt McGirt” and previous materials. RIP, ODB.
The Flaming Lips – Void: This dvd offers all 18 of the Lips’ previously released videos and their 19th, “Mr. Ambulance Driver.”
O.C. Season 2: Thank goodness this is finally out, eh? Cause Laguna Beach just can’t get it done when you need some teenage rich kid angst.
The Ring 2: This just in, Naomi Watts is Hot!
Beauty Shop: Queen Latifah, Alicia Silverstone, Andie MacDowell and Alfre Woodard…even WE are at a loss for words here, so just talk amongst yourselves why don’t ya.

I can hardly wait for Layer Cake. LS&2SB is one of my all time favorite movies. I hope this one holds up.

Rumor is there is a video around that shows ODB smoking rock in the hours before his death. Some guy was trying to sell it back to the family for $120k. Is this true? I dunno.
