Stealing The Oasis' Thunder
We told you yesterday that a fire broke out at the beloved Bitter End Bistro. Today, the Statesman reported that the damage will cost $250K, but it is covered by the restaurant owners' insurance. Fire damage was contained to the kitchen, but the brewing equipment was affected. Owner Reed Clemons who has had a bout of bad luck with restaurants lately (he recently closed Mezzaluna but is gutting it and opening a French restaurant in its place). He vows that Bitter End will be open again on October 1.
Murder suspect on the loose
Here's a news update about the murder that we told you about last Friday. Police are looking for 22-year-old Colton Aaron Pitonyak because he is the suspect in the murder of 21-year-old Jennifer Cave. Cave's body was found mutilated in her apartment, KXAN reports. There are little more details published, except that Cave's parents just knew Pitonyak as an "acquaintance." We read yesterday in the Statesman that reactions at the apartment complex where Cave's body was found are mixed. Some feel the two knew each other and that they, therefore, are safe. Others just don't feel safe and are moving.
