This...beat...is...Flipnotic, supersonic funky fresh!

Those lovely ladies and gents at Flipnotics (1603 Barton Springs) are hosting a local talent trunk show and happy hour today from 5-8pm.

Stop by and browse shirts from 302 Designs (Austinist Interview), art by local glass blower Wade Morrison, bags by Ideologika, and jewelry, accessories and soaps from DevilGirl Designs.

You can also expect discounts on store merchandise, free wine and friendly conversation from the Flips staff.

After 8pm, $5 gets you into the CD Release Party for local singer-songwriter Taylor Davis. We found him on myspace (shut up, we'll kill you with your own teeth) and took a listen to his single, "Do You Ever." While it wasn't our particular cup of tea, his voice carries enough potential to make up for a lack of catchiness. We liked "New York City" much, much more.

Just a reminder, Flipnotics also has wonderful weekend specials:
Saturday: $2 Mimosa's
Sunday: "Barton Springs Sunday Shakedown" tunes by DJ Tomas, $2 Red Stripes all day, 15% off everything with Barton Springs Pool stamp.

well, the clothes shop was around before the coffee shop. so, maybe the coffee shop is out of place. and, no, i can not afford to shop there, either. except my $16 shorts from the vintage rack and my $16 sunglasses

I love the atmosphere at Flipnotic''s'''s' Coffee Space, but I can't imagine anyone who works there can afford to shop downstairs, other than the "vintage" racks which are still heftily marked up. As for their new stuff, which most of the store is dedicated too, I mean shirts that hover around a hundred bucks?! Who, or more aptly, why, would anyone buy this? Are people this desperate to try to be(buy?) cool?! I know the same can be said about all the Austin hipster boutiques, but for reason this always seemed particularly out of place connected to the coffee space upstairs with it's seemingly unpretentious laid back South Austin sensibilty.

Don't sweat it Juice...Marc is just jealous because we are having taco's, tomatoe's, and latte's later on. Later dude's. ;P

I just thought about it and I realized I assumed you were referring to "Mimosa's" and not "Flipnotics."

I hope that was the case, because technically, Flipnotics looks to be meant as plural, and not possessive (based off signage, and how they reference themself).

Secondly, if you were talking about my sentence that states, "You can also expect discounts on store merchandise, free wine and friendly conversation from the Flips staff," I believe you'd be wrong again. "Flips" is just my abbreviation for "Flipnotics" and it would not need a possessive apostrophe because I'm technically referring to "the" staff, not "flipnotics'" staff.

I think my whole point is, "bite me, this is a blog...on the internet...written in people's spare time."

    How embarrassing!

    I'm sorry I didn't change "$2 Mimosa's" when I copy/pasted from the Flipnotics site.

Are you going to be at Grammar Asshat Police Headquarters today, Marc? I'd like to come turn myself in.
