Because self-referentiality is our calling-card, here's what happened in Austinist this week:
C U L T U R E (pop or otherwise)
· American Idol auditions are next week, perfect timing for the evil undead to rise?
· We got pretty hammered with Nic Armstrong and the Thieves - and forgot how to use our microphone. We also had an email chat with local rockstars AM Syndicate.
· Both "The Grind" and "La Putain" make us love Austin theatre.
· Sean Perry's "Transitory" exhibit at d berman is worth checking out. And if you're looking to make some art of your own, check out Ion Art's garage sale. Or gawk at the monkey art at Progressive Coffee before they take it all away tomorrow night.
· And don't forget to enter in our OK Go ticket contest.
· Rest in peace, Randy "Biscuit" Turner.
S T O R I E S
· Twenty-somethings get trashed, run amuck - and the comments keep coming. Ahh, Starseeds ... like the piss-stained corners of our mind…
N E W S
· American Apparel is, uhh, coming to town.
M O V I E S
· We totally dug "Hustle & Flow", but "The Devil's Rejects" made us puke in our neighbor's lap. Get your tickets for "Lord of the Rings" feast before the costumed freaks beat you to it. Movie reviews including 40-Year Old Virgin, Edukators, Grizzly Man and more. And, OMG, are they shooting up north?
F O O D
· Reido's needs your help, tomatoes ain't no hollaback vegetables, and it's chili season!
And that's about it. Enjoy the weekend, folks!
