On Saturday, August 20th, from 6pm-10pm, Progress Coffee (500 San Marcos St) will host a closing party for The Texas Monkey Project. The exhibit, which has been on-going since late July, features original "primate-themed" submissions by fourteen area artists. All works are part of a silent auction which ends at 8pm, and benefits Primarily Primates, a sanctuary located in Boerne, Texas.

From TexasMonkeyProject.com:

Primarily Primates...specializes in the care and treatment of monkeys and apes. The organization provides sanctuary, rehabilitation, and lifetime care to over 600 primates of varying species—many threatened and endangered. Among the most notable animals at the sanctuary are primates formerly utilized in the the Air Force astronaut program and as animal acts in the entertainment industry.

Contributing artists include Helen Altman, Sharon Bright, D’Ette Cole, Steve Dubov, Heyd Fontenot, Faith Gay, Traci Goudie, Melissa Grimes, Rachel Koper, Christia Madacsi, Edmund Martinez, Michael Sieben, Karen Sorensen, and Andrew Yates.
