rude = I like(d) it. Even when they threatened to throw me out. Dirty = double-edge sword. I could ash on the floor and pee in the back parking lot, which made me feel at home. But I was a bit put off when a live roach crawled out from my breakfast taco and the waitress was all "man, that's fucked up, huh?" As she walked off. I don't know, maybe I'm all alone here.

Suck. The beauty of the apparently "old" Starseeds was that they were rude and dirty. so you could be rude and dirty. You just didn't go there for cleanliness and service. What's an unbathed reprobate to do now when he/she needs eggs and steak, sans eye contact or faked politeness at three in the morning? Fuckin' cook them ourselves!? There are times when I shouldn't be let near a stove... Oh well.

It is kinda strange that they own both. The new Starseeds is a bit of a contrast to the one I originally haunted some ten years ago. Some would say that it makes sense, and that it is just one more example of how Austin's alt-feel is being co-opted for the sake of progress and cash (Les Amis, Sound Exchange, original Ruta Maya, Liberty Lunch, the list goes and goes). Feels like a move to the middle, if you ask me.

Isn't it odd that the same duo that own indie/punk/film-school adored Starseeds also own red mccombs/cheney/tahoe/sigma phi adored Cain and Ables? Those cats are runnin the full gambit on central austin.
