Shows Tonight
Tonight's Killers + Louis XIV show at Stubb's is completely sold out - you could opt to unload $160 for a pair of tickets, but they're simply not worth it. Instead, we have two great alternatives for you... and they're free!
The White Ghost Shivers are, well, kinda nuts. And that's why we like them! That, and the fact that they play a lively blend of hillbilly bluegrass folk and always seem to put on a great show. See them for free at the Continental Club's happy hour, from 6:30-8:30pm. [mp3 sample: White Ghost Shivers - What's in the Jug]
Across the street, one of our new favorite local indie bands, The Glass Family (not to be confused with the several other identically named bands elsewhere in the country), are playing a free show at Jo's Coffee at 7pm. These guys had a great track off the I Eat Records debut compilation CD, and last we checked were in the final steps of getting their own LP mastered. The show will be followed by a screening of Paul Thomas Anderson's "Sydney", starring John C. Reilly, Gwyneth Paltrow, Samuel L. Jackson and Philip Baker Hall. Otherwise you should get yourself to the theatre - both "La Putain Avec Les Fleurs" and "The Grind" are currently being performed. We loved both.
