'Entertainment Weekly' Gives Serious Love to The Alamo Drafthouse

Oh how we love the Alamo Drafthouse, let us count the ways...

Five-course Italian meal with your “Godfather” screening. A bottle of champagne while you watch an old Hepburn movie. Screenings you can not find anywhere else in the state. Mr. Sinus Theatre. Real melted butter on your popcorn. Buckets of beer. Cute waiters and waitresses. Old school video games in the lobby. Videoke. Dollar Monday nights. Rolling Roadshow. Midnight movies. Private parties. Buckets of beer. $2 Tuesday burger nights. Weird Wednesdays. Saturday Morning Film Club. Filmmaker Q&A's. The list is endless.

We obviously realize that our weekly (sometimes daily) visits to the Alamo Drafthouse are one of the greatest things about living in Austin, but now the WORLD will know. Entertainment Weekly has released a list of the 10 best movie houses in America, where filmgoing has been turned into a dream.

Congrats, Alamo. The secret is out. (Now let’s just pray this doesn’t drive even more folks to move here and fight over the few available jobs.) We wonder, what do you love most about the Alamo?

unfortunately, i think the food at the alamo is suckus profundus. but the michael jackson sing-a-long last week was probably one of the most under-attended but most awesome event i will ever remember about the alamo only second to sniffing tony shaloub when i saw him there during sxsw one year. i also love the secret (are they secret anymore?) pleather couches.

Fried pickles and a Blue Hawaii pizza. Hong Kong Sundays used to be the shit. And watching Dolemite with a complimentary 40oz was fanghettotastic. So, so good...
