Alert Alert! Get Your Sliders While You Can!

sliderscrop.jpg

So a while back, we told you of one of our fave after-hours grazing spots, Reido's. Last night we went by to grab ourselves a few cheese sliders and a grilled-with, as has become a Saturday night ritual, only to discover that August will be the last month Reido's resides at GM Steakhouse.

Apparently, GM Steakhouse wants to grow its evening business after seeing the great success of Reido's, so out he goes at the end of the month! Outrage! Where will our dear Reido's go? Who will sing us Dean-O and Frank classics while lovingly constructing our feast? Owner/cook Reido says he is looking around for new digs, but since he only just found out, he hasn't got it all figured out just yet.

We say let's pack that place every night till they move! Couldn't everyone use a little slider love?

Bummer, Reido's is great. Nothing like Frito Pie at midnight, you know? Here's to hoping for a cool new location still close to downtown.

unlike white castle sliders, Reido's are not frozen, nor do they have the holes in them. Each is handmade on the spot, he grills chopped onions into one side and if you get it with cheese - the cheese will end up between the bottom of the patty and bottom bun.

they are perfection (in my humble opinion)

Be sure to doctor up those frozen Castle burgers (rat burgers to the locals) with an extra slice or two of Land O' Lake cheese. Oh, and dill pickle chips.

Sliders are tiny hamburgers, like the ones made at White Castle. I thought White Castle had some sort of ownership to the term "slider", but guess not. HEB has frozen White Castle burgers, which we bought only as a funny homage to old Beastie Boys songs (NOT the movie) but they were actually alright, and might do in a pinch for lost rituals.
