Austinist recommends Hot Dick....wait what?

A few months ago, we told you about a UT student, Jose Luis Olivares, who had his artwork mysteriously removed from the walls of the campus art building. Originally thought to have been stolen, it turns out the artwork was removed by maintenance workers without permission or notice. It has since been returned to Jose.

Some of these pieces will be featured at Hot Dick, a show which opens tonight at Red Door (2511 East 6th St).

Besides work by Jose Luis Olivares, the opening will also showcase paintings, sculptures, videos, and even some performance by local artists: Dylan Reece, Ryan Lauderdale, Mike Egan, Ben Aqua, Will Sellari, and Melissa Rocha.

Music will be provided by Assacre and Kitchen Bitch.

  • The zoning maintance workers assumed it was vandalism. I'm guessing they forgot the art was in the art building.
