Austin Ranks in Top 50 Sports Cities

The Sporting News has released its annual list of Best Sports Cities in North America, and you will be pleased to know that Austin cracked the Top 50. TSN ranked Austin 47th in its list of 388 cities. However, if you look at the list closely, you will see that Austin ranks 4th among cities that do not have a big-league professional sports teams, trailing only Raleigh-Durham & Chapel Hill, home to the Cameron Crazzies and the domain of the greatest coach of all time, Dean Smith; the hated Sooner home of Norman, Oklahoma; and Louisville, home of a college basketball powerhouse and horse racing greatness. A nod to our friends down the road: San Antonio topped TSN’s list of best NBA cities.

I Apologize PROFUSELY. as a life-long Heels fan (wel since 82, anways) i feel awful. However, i did not see Chapel Hill connected to raleigh-durham, and was actually a bit puzzled, as Duke and NC St is not enough to put them in Top 50. I apologize profusely and will buy you a drink next time I see you on Franklin St.

As a UNC fan, I take issue with your mention of only Raleigh-Durham and the Duke fans and not Chapel Hill and the Tarheels. We are the National Champions, after all. Sadly, we must share the 23rd spot with them. But it is the 23rd spot which is significant.

Yea, I changed it real fast, they also have the columbus crew for what it's worth

I at first had forgot ALL about the nhl

For a good read about the viability or lack thereof of nhl, check this:
