Too little too late
The city is trying to restore some jobs in Austin, as many were lost because of budget cuts since 2001. But, Austin just made panhandling legal in all areas of town...so, who needs a 9 to 5 working for the man when you can make make $500/day tax free off all the people with their commuter coffee mugs and brown bag lunches? These same workers will end up paying more in taxes and water bills if the "investment" in the city happens. Suckers! [Statesman]

Re-defining heartless
Austin's pet population is more manageable due to aggressive promoting of spay and neuter services, but now places like Town Lake Animal Center are having problems with people adopting dogs, then returning them after months or even years. At least these people have the "decency" to return their family pet to the shelter instead of throwing them out of the car like these dumbasses. Things like this really piss Austinist off. While we do our breathing exercises, we meditate on the idea that karma is a bitch and we feel ourselves relax a little. [KVUE]
