I'm Sorry That I Got Fat

A new campaign geared to a healthier lifestyle was kicked off this week by the Austin/Travis Country Health and Human Services department. The campaign, called i thrive is a "community initiative to motivate people to make healthy lifestyle choices so they can live longer, more fulfilling lives."

A survey done by the CDC reveals that obesity is a heavy issue in Texas. More than one out of four adults in Texas is considered clinically obese.

We are proud to note that Austin did not make the Fattest City list of 2005 (sorry Houston, you made the top of that one). However Austin was listed as 19 on the list of Fittest cities. Let's not stop there, come on people, let's make it to the top ten at least!

So put away those controllers, turn off that tv (The O.C. is in reruns anyhow), put on your leg warmers or whatever the heck people are wearing now to exercise and get out there. Whether you prefer Jazzercise over pilates, just get moving!
