Does this mean we can finally sit with the popular kids?

So, we’re a little late in posting about this, but that’s just because we’re so damn cool we couldn’t be bothered. Forbes magazine has once again released their Official Rankings of the best cities in the U.S. for singles, as calculated by Really Smart People using Highly Scientific Methodology.

Overall, Austin was ranked #11, right behind our buddies in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Seattle, respectively. Most impressively, Austin ranked Numero Uno in the separate categories of “Singles” and “Coolness.” Apparently, coolness “is determined by an area’s diversity and its number of creative workers.” So right on, Austin! On the downside, our fair city is lagging sadly behind in the categories of “Nightlife” (#37 – um, hel-LO, are they watching The Real World? Dizzy Rooster FOREVAH) and “Living Cost” (#39). Yup, those crappy efficiencies just ain’t as economical as they used to be.

But seriously, way to go Austin! Next year: Top Ten!

i don't get this 'great place for singles' thing, it is open to interpretation, i guess, but i think this place is good for being single in that there is not a stigma attached to being single and so many people are. it's not good in terms of being single in that people are so militantly single and into thier own thing with so many options on their hipster table that it makes it maddening it at times to be single, but it does perpetutate that single-ness. ok. what? damn whiskey breakfast! thanks bre for making the rest of us feel so single. time to fashion myself a girlfriend out of my wicked imagination like osme people i know. oh, yeaaaa
