Weekend IST List: July 22

Put down Harry Potter if you haven't finished it yet (we haven't, so don't ruin the ending for us!) and get out this weekend. As always, if there's something you'd like to recommend, drop us a line.

FRIDAY

[music] BLING Party at Beerland, with Things That Go Pop, Tran Tram, Assacre.

[music] We finally have an excuse to party at Gallery Lombardi when Green Potato Ventures presents A Cool Summer Night, the Snowman Media Launch Party aka . With Canoe, Experimental Aircraft, AM Syndicate, Loxsly, Stories From the Frontier, and DJ Black Madonna.

[music] Li'l Cap'n Travis and The Damnations at The Continental Club.

[film] The Sinus Show skewers "Red Dawn"at the Drafthouse Downtown. 7pm and 9:45pm.

[film] See old-school Travolta strut his stuff in "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever" at The Paramount Theatre, 7:15pm and 9:30pm.

[music] Hardcore Holland bands Seein Red and Kriegstanz, plus Bury the Living (Memphis), Kegcharge, and Century of War at Emo's (thanks Sean!)

[festival] Stay the hell away from the Driskill Hotel this weekend, 'cuz that's where they're throwing Best Little Pitchfest in Texas.

[film] Tons of new movies, including Murderball, Bad News Bears, March of the Penguins and more.

SATURDAY

[gallery opening] Julie Speed shows off her brilliant new flatbed etchings at Flatbed Press with a free artist's reception. 6-8 p.m.

[sale] Consignment shopping for maternity wear, children's clothing, and toys at Between Friends' huge garage sale

[instore] End of an Ear finally gets a website - and hosts Inversion Effect instore! 6pm

[music] We're making the long drive up to The Parlor to catch Peel, For Those Who Know, and Condition of Sale. 9pm

[music] The Solace Bros and either Youngmond Grand or Till We're Blue or Destroy (we're not sure which source is right) at Stubb's

[music] Hundts Kup, Junior League, Peter and the Wolf, Rio De La Muerte, The Down Home Southernaires, and Round Hole Square Peg play a house party at Jesse's Bedroom (5711 Exeter Drive) Starts at 6, donations welcomed.

[art] The Serie Project at Mexic-Arte Museum.

[art] Contemporary Art Weekend at Art on 5th. Check out a preview of the show.

SUNDAY

[festival] Brace yourself when the Drafthouse puts on Zaireeka at Old Settlers Park.

[fitness] Swim, bike, and run off those dozen or so beers at the Aquarena Sprint Triathlon in San Marcos. We'll be hitting the snooze button instead.
